I’m sure that many of you are tired of me continually gushing over my models. It’s easy to do especially considering the difficulty finding great talent. But when you’ve got a goodie, ya let the world know!
And when you get a really enthusiastic response to a modeling request, you take notice. Could this be a new gem?
Erin was that enthusiastic guy. Spotted on Instagram, I noticed he was a nudist with artistic interests. He has a nicely fit figure and does parkour making him pretty agile.
This was the perfect combination for my projects.
Flying him to Cleveland from DC was a simple operation. Upon greeting him at the airport, you would have thought that I had taken a kid on a field trip to the most exciting place ever.
He was bubbling with energy, ready to make photos and excited to explore. I couldn’t ask for a better response.
But there is something different about him. There is a sense of devotion to the production of these photos. He is committed with his entirety to making something special.
I can relate to this because that’s how I feel since picking up a camera. When you immerse yourself into the arts, it becomes a yearning to find your voice. When you do, it becomes an addiction!
With each shoot I try to encourage the models to interact with the spaces we explore. It’s not easy. These places are pretty scary.
I use minimal direction, judging shots based on their interactions. I’m finding that I’m getting more expressive men to work with. They make this process easier and more dramatic. And guys like Erin make wonderful partners in this creative endeavor.
Erin was a treat to work with. I will miss his funny little noises while running mini-parkours as we walked, his happy spirit and his wonderful mop of hair… until our next shoot.
Guys like these keep me engaged and thrilled to continue investigating the boundaries between man and the world he’s left behind.
