As we move into the heart of winter, it’s always good to bring back some summer memories. What could be better than terrific outdoor captures in one of the most beautiful natural settings – the Pacific Northwest.
It’s been a couple of years since I worked with local talent here. Some of you may remember my previous post with Bear from Portland. Welcome the new guy, Corey!
I was very happy to finally have the ability to work with Corey after a couple of years of messaging. He represents the quintessential Pacific Northwesterner.
Comfortable and confident with himself, he also embraces the spirit of the natural world with interests in astrology and gemology. Truly a unique soul.
He is unconventional and willing to try things beyond standard societal rules. And I think the arts definitely fit into that scheme.
Corey was great to work with. We sampled several types of settings from the deep fir-lined forests to the shores of the Columbia River.
The river provided some amazingly huge driftwood options while the forest gave us this mammoth Douglas Fir stump as the perfect platform to praise Mother Earth.
In retrospect we should have shot down by the river first, then the forest. Since this was the end of July, it was a pretty hot out there on the sand.
Luckily the cool waters of the Columbia provided some welcome relief… and some spectacular views.
But it did take a toll on both photographer and model. We adjourned for some late lunch, cool drinks and comfortable conversation afterwards.
I always relish my visits to friends in Portland. It’s such a stark contrast to the Midwest and the beauty of the landscape is unmatched. This part of the country always forces me to slow down and enjoy life.
I’m also happy to have the prospects of working with local guys like Corey. Much like the land, they bring a totally fresh and unique perspective to these places.
